So you cannot light it with a 1. Replies: 3 Views: 7, Question feed. Dec 9, 4. Hi paulo can you please explain me how you have calculated the capacitance as 7 farads. Replies: 2 Views: 1, Dec 9, 5. Now the arrow drawn at the image of the battery presumably means not the direction of the current which would be pretty pointless given the polarity of the LED but rather means "please rotate the battery between its connectors". Thank you for any help with this.

  • Here's how you blink an led with just an led, capacitor, transistor and two resistors. This post is a complement to Dick Cappel's “Simplest LED. Resistors for LEDs can be used in series and parallel circuits. The simplest circuit to power an LED is a voltage source with a resistor and an. The capacitor will then act as the power source, giving current to the LED so that the LED (this part is optional); A Pushbutton; Ω Resistor; µF Capacitor; An LED.

This is the schematic below for the circuit that we're going to build.

To summarize: Just remember that the capacitor looses charge and therefor voltage and this will mean your LED will dim as it drains the cap and even though the rate at which the voltage drops decreases which means rate at which it will dim will get less over time its going to get dimmer which won't be good if you are using the LED as lamp. Do I need to figure out a time step for the capacitor?

i need help figuring our the values for the resistors and capacitor in this I never thought about how an LED might effect a simple RC circuit.

An RC circuit is one containing a resistor R and a capacitor C. The capacitor is an electrical component that stores electric charge. Figure 1 shows a simple RC. Make a Simple Capacitor/Transistor Timing Circuit collector and emitter, energizing the LED in series with the rightmost (Rr) resistor.

The point of this puzzle presumably is that an LED has a voltage drop of 1. The problem is that the convertor itself will consume power and this will load the caps even further so it would have to be very efficient for this kind of application.

But the voltage would be higher, wouldnt that fry the LED? Charles R.

    1. I like your idea but I reckon its gonna take about farads at 5v to supply 30mins 10mA, and white and blue LEDs are generally around 3.
